Our Team

 

 

William Schaal, President

After receiving a degree in Finance from the University of Denver in 1989 with an emphasis in Marketing and Management, William moved to Hsin-Chu, Taiwan and worked for the Industrial Technology Research Institute communicating with scientists on U.S. Government defense projects and became fluent in Mandarin Chinese.  He relocated to Kuwait and worked for Ericsson Cellular as the Project Coordinator under contract for the Department of Defense where he managed the local labor force.  William developed analyses for project implementation and conducted weekly management meetings with the Kuwaiti Government.

After returning to the U.S., he finished a full two year compliment of medical school prerequisites with an emphasis in Bio-Chemistry  from the University of Colorado.  William started working in the medical device industry in 1996.  He worked for Stryker Endoscopy as a Business Manager selling capital equipment into the hospital OR market and later for Quinton Cardiology (now Cardiac Science Corporation) as a Senior Cardiology Systems Sales Manager also selling into hospitals.  He was promoted several times within Cardiac Science and eventually to National Account Manager in charge of corporate sales for the Western United States.

William started Medical Device Systems, LLC in January of 2008.

 

 

Alex Castro, Vice President, North America Distribution

Alex began his career in Miami, as a respiratory therapist, eventually becoming the department manager. He moved to Seattle in 1987 where he worked at Fred Hutchinson Research Center and the University of Washington Pulmonary Hospital Research Lab.  In 1991, Alex made the switch from hospital setting to medical device manufacturer joining Quinton Instrument Co (Quinton merged and became Cardiac Science in 2005).  He spent time as a Product Manager, Business Development Manager, Director of International Sales and Marketing, and eventually Director of OEM Business. Alex joined Medical Device Systems in March of 2010.

Alex’s career spans more than 18 years creating and supporting distribution networks in the US, South America, Europe, China and Japan.  His focus is developing alliances and partnerships that have high demands and ever-changing needs.  Alex’s expertise is creating and maintaining multi-faceted relationships that provide value to partners while upholding optimum profits. Alex has a Business Degree from Lewis Clark State College.

 

 

Jenny Peng, Executive Assistant

Jenny is from Shandong, northern China. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English. Currently, Jenny is working on her Bachelor of Science in Accounting at the Daniels College of Business - University of Denver and will be graduating in June 2010.

Jenny assists Medical Device Systems in communicating with suppliers from China and managing supplier relationships. She has experience with international business and is enthusiastic to help U.S. customers find the right supplier.
